I’ve been sitting on this FO for awhile, but I guess I can go ahead and post this, since the wedding was in April 🙂
This afghan was a wedding present for some friends of mine who I met at Virginia Tech, but are also from South Carolina originally (like me!) That’s what attracted me to this pattern with its pineapple motif, since it’s such a Southern symbol. They are also (unfortunately) University of South Carolina fans (no one’s perfect), so I sucked it up and bought a rather spot-on shade of garnet yarn.
I wanted this to be at least somewhat a substantially warm blanket, so I used a thicker yarn, which had the side-effect of making this thing HUGE! It’s a bit difficult to get a sense of scale from these pictures, but this is literally taking up my whole (apartment-sized) dining room.
I’d bought more pins and blocking boards, since the blanket was ruffling as I was crocheting it up, I knew I would have to block it all. But they still weren’t enough! You can definitely see in that picture that I also had to use towels. Luckily, I didn’t have to pin anything, the weight of the wet wool was enough to keep it laying flat once i’d stretched things out a bit.
Isn’t that picot border just darling!?
(I may be a bit obsessed, actually.)
Well, there it is! Project and yarn info over on ravelry, as usual 🙂
